LAS PIEDRAS PARK
Santa Paula, California

Project Background:
Las Piedras Park is a neighborhood park with out of date irrigation, uneven grades and an over-used soccer field.

Client:
Santa Paula Public Works Department & Community Services Department

Scope of Work:
Develop a two phase design for immediate renovation of the soccer field, basketball courts and circulation. Provide a leasable space for private group events, and plan for a future indoor gymnasium. Schematic planning through construction administration.

Quality & Technical Issues:
Las Piedras neighborhood park is used by residents of all ages. Technical issues include providing durable turf that will likely be over used, and accommodating residents of all ages. Since the park is in a conglomerate filled drainage, Boulders of all sizes are just below the finish grade. Careful attention was paid to balancing cut and fill, and altering grades as little as possible while providing a low gradient play field with appropriate drainage.
